Mission Statement
| The North America Rivers & Dams Alliance ( NARDA) is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization working to build a movement against the green-washing of mega-dams, while promoting truly clean energy, scientific truth and climate justice. Our goals are to educate the public and policy-makers about the environmental and social/cultural impacts created by arctic and sub-arctic mega-dams. We advocate for the restoration of close-to-natural water flows at all existing dams, the removal of any dams where that is not possible, and no new dams constructed where water flows that follow the natural flow of the river cannot be maintained. We are part of a growing network of organizations, individuals, government officials and campaigns which are allied around this goal: remove and replace the hydro- power dams which are severely impacting the ecology and climate, with truly clean and renewable energy – like solar, wind, hydro-kinetic and geothermal, and stop the “green-washing” of mega-dam hydropower. |
